Entrance: Shore and boat
Level: Advanced and above
Depth: 18-40m
Dive type: Shipwreck
Known as the Boga wreck, this is the newest ship wreck in Bali, only sunk in 2012. Previously it was a dutch built cargo ship, about 40 meters long and is lying between 18-45 meters on a sandy bottom. Originally it was meant to only lie at a max depth of 32 meters but factors such as the initial sinking and environmental conditions have led it to slowly sink deeper and deeper over time. We believe now though that it has reached its final resting place.
The Boga is just a short drive up the road from the Liberty in Tulamben. The dive itself starts off a pebble beach in a nice shallow area which slowly slopes down towards the ship - on your decent you can frequently see octopus, nudibranchs, lobsters and nice corals. After a short 5 minute swim suddenly a dark shape will start approaching and the impressive view of the bow of the Boga will appear. Starting at about 16-18 meters you athen can explore the wreck swimming around the structure of the boat and for the more experienced divers there is a really nice area to explore the inside of the wreck.
The ship is still mostly intact and hosts many points of interest including a steering wheel (not the original) many used Scuba tanks, buddha statues, the propeller and a VW car!
Because of the Depth of this dive it is recommended for Advanced divers and also a good spot for doing deep training dives.
Fun fact: Owner Wayan proposed to his girlfriend by the steering wheel on this dive!
